Whew! It seems like ages since I was packing to head to my very first author book signing event. I was so nervous and worried that no one would want a book signed by me. I couldn’t sleep thinking about it. I was one of only about a dozen authors and most were way more successful than I. I knew that Colleen Hoover and Abbi Glines would be signing in the same room as me and that alone was enough to make me feel like I needed an emergency cupcake. It isn’t every day you are in the same room as authors that hit #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list…right?!?

After a very long ride down from Detroit we arrived in Orlando late Friday Night, having left Detroit on Wednesday. I was really crossing fingers that I could slip into my room to rest and I ran right smack into a pack of amazeballz authors like Katie Ashley, Tara Sivic, RK Lilley and Raine Miller. I’ve read all of their books and then there they all are, getting on the very same flipping elevator. Totally surreal. These women as not only awesome authors but they are as sweet as August is hot. I can’t tell you what a wonderful group this was to meet.

Saturday was the signing and I had such an anxiety attack on the way over  that I headed right to the bar as soon as we got there. A nice glass of blush wine and I was ready to sign. I couldn’t believe that my girl Amber from Wicked Reads came right over and gave me a hug. She was so sweet and chatted with me while we waited for everyone to come in. I have no clue how many books I signed but I can say that each and every one made me feel so special. I was honestly humbled each time someone asked me to sign a book for them. Every single fan and blogger that I met greeted me with a big smile. It was so awesome. I am grateful for those that came out, especially those from far distances who came just to meet me. I even got a signed copy of Hopeless. Wow.

On Sunday we went to The Melting Pot with Ana who was the amazeballz organizer of the whole weekend and her amazing crew. Tara Sivic (Awesomesauce #1) and C.C. Wood (Awesomesauce #2) came as well and we basically laughed our butts off while dipping our yummy food to the sweet sounds of goat yodeling. I know that might sound strange and it was indeed actually very strange. (Have you seen that video?) What is also strange is they didn’t kick us out even after we were so freaking loud and they had closed two hours ago. We had such a wonderful time chatting, tweeting and laughing. Don’t let anyone tell you any different: these are some high class, sweet, sassy, and mind-in-the-gutter ladies. If you were following on Twitter you may have seen some tweets of things I said but I honestly plead the 5th. I have no clue what any of that is about. True Story.

I will never, ever forget my first author signing experience or this final moment captured in a picture below where Tara grabbed my boob. It is the things like this, the special moments that make a life. Wicked weekend was both wicked and epic. Three days I will certainly never forget.
